Global Village Season 31: Your Evening Guide

The car park lights come on before the sky gives up its last orange. You join a slow line of families at the gate, kids already pulling ahead, and somewhere inside a drum starts up that you can feel in your chest before you hear it clearly. Then you walk through, and the first thing that hits you is not the lights. It is the smell. Grilled corn, cardamom, something sweet frying in oil. Within ten minutes you have heard four languages and been offered a taste of honey from a stall owner who is very sure you need a jar.
That is Global Village on a cool November evening, and Season 31 is now open. It started on 14 October 2026 and runs until May 2027, so there is no rush. But there is a best way to do it, and a few small things that make the difference between a great night and a long, tired walk back to the car.
Here is how we would plan it.

What is new this season
The theme for Season 31 is A More Wonderful World, and the park brings together more than 90 cultures under one roof of sky. Two new rides have opened in the Carnaval area. Arabian Horses is a gentle family ride with a minimum height of 110 cm. Athens Slingshot is the opposite: a thrill ride for anyone 140 cm and up who wants to be flung into the night.
A roller coaster called Tokyo Rush, with a loop and some very sharp turns, is due to open later in the season. No date has been given yet, so if that is the reason for your visit, check before you go.
Old favourites are back too. Dragon Kingdom, The Horror Hotel and Secrets of the Lost City all return, and the Festival Wheel has new carts. Kids can pick up the new Kids Passport and collect stamps as they move between pavilions, which is a surprisingly good way to keep small legs walking.
Practical tip: rides are not part of the entry ticket. They run on separate ride passes and points, so budget for them on top.
When to go, and when not to
Gates open at 4pm every day. From Sunday to Wednesday the park closes at midnight. Thursday to Saturday it stays open until 1am, and public holidays get the late finish too. Hours can change during the season, so check the official Global Village site before you go.
Tuesday is the day to know about. It is reserved for ladies and families, except on official public holidays. If you are a group of friends without family members, pick another night or you will be turned around at the gate.
Our honest advice: go on a weeknight if you can. Weekend nights are busy, the food lines get long, and parking fills early. Arrive close to 4pm, walk the pavilions while it is still light, eat as the sun goes down, and save the rides and the lights for after dark. That order beats the crowds at every stage.

Eat your way around the world
With more than 250 dining options across the park, the trick is not finding food. It is stopping yourself from filling up at the first pavilion. Share plates. Buy one thing at each stop rather than a full meal at one. A cone of fries here, a skewer there, something sweet from a country you have never visited.
The shopping is just as big, with more than 3,500 outlets. Expect spices, textiles, lamps, honey and the occasional thing you did not know you needed until a stall owner explained it for five minutes.

A first visit route that works
First time? Do not try to see everything. Nobody does, and the people who try spend the evening walking fast and remembering very little.
Start with the pavilions nearest the entrance while the light is soft, because the architecture looks its best in that half hour before dark. Pick three or four countries you know nothing about and give each one real time. Go inside, look at what is being made by hand, ask questions. Then find somewhere to sit and eat as the lights come on across the park.
After dinner, head to Carnaval if the kids have been patient, or slow right down and just wander. Some of the best moments here are unplanned: a performance starting up as you pass, a stall you would never have looked for, or a moment when every pavilion around you is lit at once.
Practical tip: wear comfortable shoes and carry a light layer. November evenings are cool once the sun goes down, and you will walk more than you expect.
Getting there without the parking stress
Driving is the easiest option for most families, and there are several free parking areas. If you want to be closer to the gates, paid zones cost between AED 75 and AED 120, and VIP parking runs to about AED 200 a day for guests without a VIP pack (prices at time of writing, October 2026, as reported by Khaleej Times). This season you can pay at machines before you reach the exit, which should mean less queuing on the way out.
No car? RTA runs four bus routes to the park for Season 31: route 102 from Al Rashidiya Bus Station and route 104 from Al Ghubaiba, both every 60 minutes; route 103 from Union Bus Station every 40 minutes; and route 106 from the Mall of the Emirates Bus Station every 60 minutes, as announced for the season and reported by Khaleej Times. Check the RTA website for current timings before you travel.
Practical tip: check the last departure on your route before you settle in for the late shows, so you are not racing the clock at the end of the night.
